I lost my father and mother within one year almost to the day of each other. I’m the midst of accepting one loss I was faced with the other. This poem was written on my heart in the midst of that but it was not put to paper until almost five years after. I just find it interesting how differently we all process grief and loss.
My condolences for so much loss. I can appreciate the poem even more now.
I’ve had five deaths in the past ten years, two were especially difficult partly because they were so totally unexpected. As your poem says, there’s no hiding or forestalling Fate.
"But on each soul was stamped a date." - especially love this line.
