My name is Neil Gonsalves and I am an Indian-born Canadian immigrant who grew up in Dubai, U.A.E. and moved to Canada in 1995. I have been described by friends as a constructive deviant; someone willing to engage in the uncomfortable by asking why things are the way they are with the primary objective of challenging and improving the status quo.
I delivered a TEDx talk in 2022 titled “How common humanity gets lost in the jargon of inclusivity”; I have been a keynote and guest lecturer at several community and corporate events. I left the corporate world and have been a college professor since 2006, teaching primarily in the area of ethics and diversity. I have been published as a contributing author on a couple of books and have written in local newspapers on politics and culture. I am currently working on a couple of books that I consider to be labours of love.
Prior to entering academia, I was the Senior Manager of Staffing and Development for the Toronto branch of a publicly traded security integrator. I served on a National Advisory Board funded by Human Resource and Skills Development Canada, working on enhancing literacy levels, an area that is particularly close to my heart.
So, I am a husband, father, educator, amateur writer and recreational dog trainer. Most relevantly, I am a man afraid to die with a million ideas left unspoken in my head, so with the encouragement of my wife I began pursuing my interest in writing and sharing my ideas.
