The Story of Love
Brian Sankarsingh writes a poem about the roller coaster of love and breakups
Who among us has not given their heart to someone? Who among us, for the sake of love, has not walked a few inches off the floor? Who among us has not felt the burning call of desire? Who among us has not endured the fear of being apart from our love? Who among us has not endured the pain of a broken heart?
New Love – The Fascination
Who is she, this fascinating obsession
Stealing breath from my body
Tip-toes merrily through my heart
Freely now I give confession
Dearest, please hear my prayer
How can it be, such a deep connection
I am ensnared in euphoric feeling
Was this always her intention
Finally, my life has meaning
Fervour – A Call to Prayer
Oh love,
Come embrace me
In your warm arms, let
Me disappear into
You, as we become one
Soul to soul we catch a glimpse of divinity
Body to body
I partake in the nectary of your pleasure
Engulf me inside and out
Consume my every desire
In your love there is
no doubt, you are
The one
Fervour – An Answer to Prayer
Oh lover
Be warmed by my
embrace and let me
Ease the pain that makes a
Siege around your sad lonely heart
I will fulfil your every desire
Immersed in a meditative
Euphoria, I will stay by
Your side and when you are
Once again awake and long
For my embrace
Consume me for I
Am the one
Desire – The Burning
Burning
Raging
Ravenous desire
Veins aflame with agonizing pain
I am but a worshipper in her choir
Try as I might, I cannot abstain
Without her there is no existence
In her absence, I am plunged in despair
Searching for a line of least resistance
Caught between obsession and fear
She gives so much more than she demands
Floating on cotton candy mists
All her wishes are my command
I lay covered in her torpid kisses
Love/Hate – A Conundrum
What have I become?
Lost and adrift in obsession
Trapped
Deceived
Duped and conned
Desperately searching for escape
From the picturesque façade
Now pulled back into her embrace
I dare not fight the ecstasy
I shrink back in vile disgrace
This love hate is my destiny
Realization – The Fear Realized
I am
Me
Not
Her
My life is mine
Not
Hers
But oh, how I long for her
The escape that she brings
On her angel wings
But
I am
Me
Not
Her
I long for one more, just one
More touch of her of silken skin
Fire ignited deep within
But
I
Am
Me
Not
Her
Consequence – The New Reality
Silence fills the air
And my shredded heart
I taste the stench of my fear
Now that we’re apart
I laid my life at her shrine
My soul a supplication
Once our stars were aligned
Entwined in erotic undulation
Together sensually lost in time
Caught in the rapture of my desire
Synchronized rhythm
Harmonized rhyme
Burning in her love’s fire
Now, cold and callous is that place
Her indifference is my penance
How far I have fallen from her grace
Driven mercilessly from her presence
