The Journey to Canada - Part 1: An immigrant's story - By Brian Sankarsingh
For the folks who read my poetry you know that I tend to stay away from flowery meanderings preferring instead to write about everyday social issues that affect us all. One of those issues that is near to my heart is immigration. I am a first-generation immigrant and immigrated to Canada a long time ago. However, I still remember the struggle. I remember the sacrifice. The pain of separation from my family. The fear of being in a place unlike anything I’d ever experienced before. But I learned to live here and grew to love it.
A Crumbling Cookie and the Healing Power of Laughter: Celebrating laughter as medicine for the body and the soul - By Susan Knight
Most of us have gone through a difficult period of some kind where there’s little or no laughter in our world. Thinking back to one of those periods in my own life, I can also recall the moment arriving where something finally registered as funny to me — funny enough to make me laugh. As I laughed out loud, the actual act of laughing felt good; but it also felt a bit strange.
The Journey to Canada - Part Deux: An immigrant's story - By Brian Sankarsingh
In the early 2000 I moved back to Trinidad to care for my elderly parents. That was when I realized just how much I had fallen in love with Canada. I have not met many immigrants who did not fall in love with this country. This poem is the immigrant who after some thirty years is looking back and understanding why Canada is such a bountiful land.

But is it new? Does it work? And are we missing an important employer option that could turn this entire conversation on its head?
