Realized
From our creative partner in Gurugram, Haryana just outside of Delhi in India
This poem is reproduced with the permission of Dr. Shruti Shankar Gaur from her inaugural book of poetry titled Four Decades, The Prose of My Life.
I realized Life isn’t linear In fact, it’s spiral The past and the present often collide Often, I find myself at the same spot I had left ten years ago Drifted by time and space Same situations, same dilemmas Same questions Now with a new name How do I recognize them? First, I can feel them My sensibilities tell me I have been here often I can’t point my finger though But in an instant Déjà vu happens I realize, there’s work to be done It is a loop, I always end up in the hoop I look back Trying to recall Last time, what did I do Thus, I look inward Observing my breath Use my heart and my head To find the way ahead I surrender I seek I flow with the flow And often a small window Appears from above or below I choose With new vigor and sincerity I know, I am out of the loop For the time being Till it reboots Thus, every now and then I find myself In the middle of a collision Where the past and the present Remain in unison Hence, I realized Wherever there is trauma There hides the pain Those are the spaces Where work is to be done To heal the karma A chance to make it undone And create an entirely new one.
