“That just to illustrate - very briefly - how complex communication actually is.” Great starting place; if we recognize the complexity of the task, we’re more likely to recognize the need for training to do it well.

As I read this brilliant article, the thought that popped into my head was "most people don't listen to understand, they listen to respond!" Add to that the people who don't know when to stop talking and we've certainly got the ideal scenario for communication hell
