Duality

An original poem by Dr. Shruti Shankar Gaur written in Jan 02, 2023
I don’t know how others focus On one thing at a time My mind’s all over the place, Ringing the chime. I don’t know how others Feel settled in life The moment I find my balance, I discover a new turn. I don’t know how others Decide on one thing, After all I am always greeted with duality. I want this And I want that Problem is both are apart Just like my head and my heart. This has been a childhood pattern, Me wanting both In equal concussion, All my life there were two options. And I love both! If I want beauty, I want the brain too. Without both, what will I do? To my younger self, they were opposites. Today, I know they are one. It’s the duality of life, I have accepted and acknowledged. Both were always one, It was my illusion That prevented me from, Celebrating the whole spectrum.

Thank you for sharing this Shruti. Beautiful.
I enjoyed this poem very much, Shruti. Vernon commented on your other post that “…the great majority of what we experience and express in our lives unfolds within our own minds.” Your poem and his comment together make me envision the mind as a house, with the following variations:
- We may rearrange or replace the furniture in the house from time to time.
- We may renovate the house or build an addition onto it, which can be exciting but messy.
- We may tear down the house and rebuild it, a huge undertaking resulting in something very different from what we started with.
