Dry as dust and shrivelling up 
Wasting away as time goes by
Body intact, polish the shell
Commit to living a lie

Careful steps left and right
Adapt, acquiesce, appease
Rotting away from deep within
Soul decayed by gangrenous disease

Stay the course day by day
No need for reason or rhyme
Slow and steady wins the race
Practice makes perfect over time

Hide, retreat, secrets to keep
Growing tired and fading fast
Pressure mounts and cracks abound 
How much longer can this last
